Versions and reviews

Every test case has one or more versions. The Version selector in the editor header shows them, each marked Active, Default or Archived.

  • New version creates a copy of the current content under a name such as v1.1. Use it before changing a case that is already part of running executions.
  • Set as default makes a version the one used when the case is added to new executions.
  • Archive hides an old version from use; Unarchive brings it back.
  • Delete version removes a version. Set another version as the default first.

When you run a test you can choose which version to execute. Some changes create a version automatically so past results stay attached to what was actually run: converting a case’s type, or renaming a BDD step everywhere, when the case already has execution runs.

Teams that need sign-off before a test case is used can turn on the review workflow in Project settings › Review workflow. When it is off, none of the review controls appear.

Status Meaning
Draft Being written or changed
In review Waiting for approvals
Approved Approved by the required number of approvers
Deprecated No longer in use
  1. Open a draft test case and click Request review in the review panel. Add an optional comment.
  2. Approvers see the case under Pending approvals in the Test design explorer. Tick Only cases I can approve to see just yours.
  3. Each approver opens the case and clicks Approve, or Reject with a comment. The panel shows the progress, for example 1 of 2 approvals, who asked and when, and the full history of rounds.
  4. When enough approvals are in, the case becomes Approved.

If the project requires an e-signature, approvers confirm by typing their name or APPROVE. Signed approvals show a Signed badge.

Editing the content of an approved case puts it back to Draft, so changed content is always re-reviewed. Deprecate retires a case and Reactivate brings it back.

You can request review for many cases at once from the bulk action bar. The AI assistant can request reviews and list pending ones, but only people can approve test cases.

A project can require that executions only include approved test cases. Turn on Executions may only include approved test cases in the review settings.
